Alabama Insurance Continuing Education (CE) Courses

State Proctor/Monitor Requirements:

• Self-study final exams are required to be monitored by a disinterested third party for Alabama insurance continuing education.

AL Insurance Continuing Education Online Renewal Requirements:

• Agents must complete 24 hours every 2 years, 3 hours of which must be in Ethics.
• Agents who do not go outside the office and sell, and who do not hold a nonresident license in any other state, must complete 12 hours including 1.5 hours of Ethics, biennially.

State Specific (required) Courses:

• 3 hours must be in ethics, unless exempt or only required to have one-half the requirements of producers.
• Long Term Care Training Requirement: An individual who is newly licensed on or after March 1, 2009, may not sell, solicit or negotiate long-term care insurance unless the individual is authorized as an insurance producer for accident and health or sickness and has completed a one-time 8 hour training course. Those individuals who are currently licensed have until December 31, 2009, to obtain the one time 8 hour training course. Ongoing training of not less than 4 hours every 24 months will be required during the biennial renewal cycle thereafter.
• Flood Training Requirement: All Alabama licensed resident insurance producers who sell federal flood insurance policies shall be required to complete a one time 3 hour requirement on flood insurance.

Alabama Insurance CE License Renewal Timelines:

• License renewal. Producer renewal date is the last day of the birth month, biennially.
