Georgia Insurance Continuing Education (CE) Courses

State Proctor/Monitor Requirements:

• Exams are required to be monitored by a disinterested third party for Georgia insurance continuing education.

GA Insurance Continuing Education Online Renewal Requirements:

• 15 hours are required annually for agents licensed less than 20 years.
• 10 hours are required annually for agents licensed more than 20 years.
• Limited sub-agents (credit life and credit accident and sickness, personal PC, private passenger auto, homeowners including all personal property, and personal LH) and credit licensees require 5 GA Insurance Continuing Education credit hours annually.
• Individuals holding a CPCU, CLU, FLMI, CIC, CEBS, CHFC, or AAI designation need 6 hours Georgia Insurance Continuing Education credit annually and they must attach a proof of designation. (Must include 3 hours of ethics.)
• Newly licensed individuals who were exempt from the prelicense education requirement will have a prorated Insurance Continuing Education requirement for the first reporting period.

State Specific (required) Courses:

• All licensees (except limited subagents) must complete 3 hours of ethics as part of their regular CE requirement.
• All Georgia insurance CE hours other than ethics must be completed in approved courses for the lines of insurance for which agent is licensed.
• For individuals holding a limited sub-agent license in addition to an agent license, not more than 5 credit hours can come from courses related to the line of insurance of the limited sub-agent license.
• LTC Training Requirement: After August 1st 2008 an individual may not sell, solicit or negotiate a partnership policy unless the individual is a licensed and appointed insurance agent and has completed the one-time 8 hour initial training requirement. An ongoing training requirement of 4 hours will be required every 24 months thereafter.
• Flood Requirement: A one-time 3-hour flood training course is required for all property and casualty agents wanting to sell flood insurance. This course can also  count as part of the regular CE and ethics requirement as well.

Georgia Insurance CE License Renewal Timelines:

• GA insurance continuing education requirements must be completed on or before December 31st of each year.
• All license renewals for Georgia agents must be filed by November 1st of each year. Any renewal received from November 2nd, through December 31st, must include a $15 late filing fee.
