Nebraska Insurance Continuing Education (CE) Courses

State Proctor/Monitor Requirements:

• Exams are required to be monitored by a disinterested third party for Nebraska insurance continuing education.

NE Insurance Continuing Education Online Renewal Requirements:

• Above hours must include an ADDITIONAL 3 hours of ethics for Nebraska insurance CE.

State Specific (required) Courses:

• Courses must be approved for lines of insurance for which license is held.
• In addition to the basic requirement, licensees must complete 3 hours in insurance-related ethics.
• Maximum hours to be reported in any 2-year period are 24 hours for producers and consultants.
• Flood Training Requirement: All Nebraska resident insurance producers licensed in property/casualty lines of authority that may sell a flood insurance policy must complete a one-time course related to NFIP which will provide at least 3 of continuing education credit. These three hours are not required in addition to the normal 24 hours for Nebraska insurance CE.
• Long Term Care Training Requirement: An individual may not sell, solicit or negotiate long-term care insurance unless the individual is authorized as an insurance producer for health or sickness and accident insurance and has completed a one-time training course by or before August 1, 2008 and ongoing training every 24 months thereafter. The one-time training course shall be no less than 8 hours and the ongoing training shall be no less than 4 hours during each twenty-four month period.

Nebraska Insurance CE License Renewal Timelines:

• Insurance department requests renewal filing 45 days prior to license renewal. The renewal date is the last day of birth month, biennially. Producers born in even years renew in even years; born in odd years renew in odd years.
• License Renewal after license is held for 2 years and biennially thereafter.
