Tennessee Insurance CE Requirements

Insurance Continue Education Hours Required

• 24 hours are required biennially, including 3 hours in ethics, biennially
• Public Adjusters are required to complete 24 hours including 3 hours in ethics, biennially

Insurance Continue Education State Specific Courses

• All Tennessee licensed resident insurance producers who sell federal flood insurance policies shall be required to complete a one time 3 hour requirement on flood insurance.

Insurance Continue Education Renewal or Compliance Date for Licensees

• Producers will renew their licenses by the last day of their birth month every 2 years.

Insurance Continue Education Types of Courses Accepted

• Independent self study courses or classroom study.

 Monitor Requirements

• Exams DO NOT require a monitor.

Insurance Continue Education Carryover Hours & Course Repetition

• A maximum of 12 hours may be carried over to the next reporting period.
•  Courses may not be repeated within 3 years from the original completion date.

Insurance Continue Education Exemptions:

• Limited lines producers
• Public adjusters licensed less than 1 year
• An insurance producer who has been continuously licensed since January 1st 1994.
• Nonresident public adjusters who have met the CE requirements in their home state, which must reciprocate with Tennessee are not required to complete CE requirements for TN.

Method to Certify Completion:

• For Most States you will be able to print your certificate of completion online once you have completed your exam.
• We usually report to the State Department of Insurance or regulatory board by the next business day.
• It may, however, take your State DOI or regulatory board up to 30 days to report your completion results on their systems.
