Washington Insurance Continuing Education (CE) Courses

State Proctor/Monitor Requirements:

• Washington insurance continuing education Exams DO NOT require a monitor.

Washington Insurance Continuing Education Online Renewal Requirements:

• 24 Approved Washington Insurance CE hours every 2 years, 3 hours of which must be in Ethics.

Insurance agents may not complete more than 8 hours of continuing education per day. Therefore if you need 24 hours of courses, you may complete your requirements no sooner than the 3rd day after you initially purchase your Washington Insurance Continuing Education courses.

State Specific (required) Courses:

• Washington Insurance CE courses must be approved for lines of insurance for which license is held.
• Effective on January 1, 2009, individuals selling long term care insurance and/or Long Term Care Partnership insurance must earn 8 credits (counted as part of the total 24 credit requirement) from an approved course on Washington long term care regulations; a 4 hour "refresher" course must be completed every 2 years. This requirement applies to both resident and nonresident agents who sell to Washington residents.
• All Washington licensed resident insurance producers who sell federal flood insurance policies shall be required to complete a one time 3 hour Insurance Continuing Education requirement on flood insurance.

Washington Insurance CE License Renewal Timelines:

• The Insurance Continuing Education license renewal date is the licensee's date of birth, every 2 years.
