15 hours per year for Life and/or Accident
& Sickness Insurance Agents, a maximum of 5 hours may be related to
segregated funds

Agents/Brokers

Continuing
Education Compliance Date
CE Compliance date coincides with the annual license renewal date being May
31st for General & Life or June 30th for Adjusters.
If
you are a new license holder and your license was issued AFTER May 15th for
General and Life or June 15th for Adjusters, you are exempt from CE for that
year. Your first reporting period will commence the next license year.
License
Renewal Date
General
& Life License holders in Manitoba have a license renewal date of May 31st
of each year. Each license year runs June 1st to May 31st.
Adjusters
have a license renewal date of June 30th of each year. Each Adjuster license
year runs from June 30th to July 1st.
Type
of courses accepted for CE Credit
Continuing Education courses can be classroom, online and/or self study.
Course
Subject Requirements
Continuing Education must be directly related to knowledge relevant to giving
advice about financial products or services, or the operation of a financial
services business. This includes programs that are structured for the purpose
of education, but excludes activities such as programs and meetings primarily
based on sales production, promotion and motivation.
The
Life Insurance Council of Manitoba Level II qualifying exam, Advocis (formerly
CAIFA) Level II and the Insurance and Financial Advisors Training Courses
(IFATC) are approved courses which satisfy the annual continuing education
requirement.

Requirements
The annual continuing education credit hour carry forward for agents/brokers is
as follows:

Repetition
Courses can be repeated only when the course content was changed significantly.

LOG ON to the Agent Reporting module and follow the instructions available
online. You need your unique/confidential user ID and default password
that has been provided to you on your renewal application. Agents
are reminded that in accordance with the applicable Licensing Rules, completion
of continuing education credit hours is a mandatory requirement of licensing
with the Insurance Council of Manitoba.
Non-Resedent
CE Requirements
Non-residents residing in Canadian jurisdictions that have continuing education
requirements will be deemed to have met the requirement in Manitoba.
Agents/Brokers residing in a jurisdiction where continuing education is not
mandatory or in the United States of America are required to comply with
Manitoba's continuing education requirements.

ADVOCIS (formerly CAIFA) Requirements
Continuing
Education Hours
Continuing Education (CE) is mandatory for all Advocis members. Members are
required to earn a minimum of 30 CE credits each calendar year. Each hour of CE
credit approved by Advocis qualifies for CE credit. Any deficiency in one year
must be made up by the next year in addition to the full year's requirement. As
it is a membership requirement to earn CE credits, those in non-compliance will
be subject to sanctions.

a minimum of 15 hours of structured
learning activity in the form of CE programs. One CE credit equals one
hour of structured learning activity.

Informal learning activities — a maximum
of 15 hours of informal activity determined by the member as contributing
to his or her ongoing professional development such as:
teaching/presenting, research/writing articles, self-study, and
participation on industry task forces/committees.
