Alaska Insurance CE Requirements


Insurance Continuing Education Hours Required

  • 24 CE hours needed biennially for Adjusters and Agents.
  • Must include 3-hours of Ethics.


Insurance Continuing Education State Specific Courses

  • All Alaska licensed resident insurance producers who sell federal flood insurance policies shall be required to complete a one time 3 hour requirement on flood insurance.
  • Hours may be taken for any line of authority; No more than 8 hours may be in business organization, management of environment.
  • Initial 8-hour LTC training requirement: Before selling, soliciting, or negotiating LTC insurance in Alaska, producers must complete an initial 8-hour LTC training course.
  • Ongoing 4-hour LTC training requirement: After completion of the 8-hour initial LTC training requirement, producers must complete 4 hours of approved LTC training every 24-months.


Insurance Continuing Education Renewal or Compliance Date for Licensees

  • Individuals whose year of birth is in an odd-numbered year will renew biennially on their birth date in odd-numbered years and individuals whose year of birth is in an even-numbered year will renew biennially on their birth date in even-numbered years.
  • Your expiration date will appear on your license.


Insurance Continuing Education Types of Courses Accepted

  • Independent self-study courses, classroom or video/electronic courses.


Monitor Requirements

  • Self-study final exams are not required to be monitored.


Reporting To Your State

  • State Insurance completions are reported 2 times every business day. If course is completed after 2 PM PT, it will be reported the following business day.
  • CFP reports are sent on Friday at 2 PM PT to the CFP Board, electronically.
  • You may also self-report your CFP completions to www.cfp.net

Insurance Continuing Education Carryover Hours & Course Repetition

  • Up to 8 hours can be carried over to the next renewal period.
  • Credit will not be given for courses that are repeated.


Insurance Continuing Education Exemptions

  • Any person licensed less than two years at the time of the first license renewal.

  • Any person who was licensed with this division prior to January 1, 1980.

  • Any person holding a temporary license or a limited lines, retired, or travel license.

  • Individuals who hold a limited lines travel insurance license.


Method to Certify Completion:

  • For Most States you will be able to print your certificate of completion online once you have completed your exam.

  • We usually report to the State Department of Insurance or regulatory board by the next business day.

  • It may, however, take your State DOI or regulatory board up to 30 days to report your completion results on their systems

  • As an added service, we can Rapidly Report all of your completed courses the same business day (per credit order) for only $25.
