State Specific Insurance Continuing Education Courses

  • 3 of which Must be in Ethics.
  • Annuity Training…Effective 06/24/2011: Producers holding a life line of authority on 6/24/2011 and who desire to sell annuities must a one-time 4 hour Annuity Training course by 12/24/2011. Individuals who obtain a life insurance line of authority on or after 6/24/2011 must complete this training before selling annuities. This requirement applies to resident and non-resident producers.


Renewal or Compliance Date for Licensees

  • December 31st of even numbered years


Types of Courses Accepted

  • Independent self-study courses, classroom, and full certification credit for passing a recognized national insurance exam.

  • No more than 50% of the total requirement per reporting period may be met using insurance company sponsored courses.


Monitor Requirements

  • Online & paper exams MUST BE monitored by a disinterested third party.


Reporting to Your State
  • $1.00 per credit hour is required to report to your state.
  • State Insurance completions are reported 2 times every business day. If course is completed after 2 PM PT, it will be reported the following business day.

  • CFP reports are sent on Friday at 2 PM PT to the CFP Board electronically.

  • You may also self-report your CFP completions to www.cfp.net


Carryover Hours & Course Repetition

  • Carryover hours are NOT allowed.

  • Credit will not be given for courses taken more than once in each biennial renewal period.


Exemptions

  • Newly licensed producers seeking the first renewal of their license.

  • Producers licensed during the second year of the Biennium proceeding the date the license expires.

  • Producers age 65 or older continuously licensed for 25 years who hold a professional designation or are the major stockholder of a corporation or a partner who neither solicits nor participates in the day to day operations.


Method to Certify Completion:

  • For Most States you will be able to print your certificate of completion online once you have completed your exam.
  • We usually report to the State Department of Insurance or regulatory board by the next business day.
  • It may, however, take your State DOI or regulatory board up to 30 days to report your completion results on their systems.
  • As an added service, we can Rapidly Report all of your completed courses the same business day (per credit order) for only $25.
